Ingredients:
- Zest of 2 lemons (approx. 1 ½ tbsp)
- ¼ cup fresh ginger, peeled and sliced (or ½ tsp ground ginger)
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup honey
- ½ cup fresh lemon juice
Directions:
- Prepare the Base:
In a small saucepan, combine lemon zest, sliced ginger, and water. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce to a simmer for 5 minutes. Strain into a heat-proof measuring cup, discarding the solids. - Warm the Honey:
Rinse the saucepan and add the honey. Heat on low, ensuring it does not boil. - Combine Ingredients:
Slowly add the strained lemon ginger water and fresh lemon juice to the warmed honey. Stir gently until fully combined into a smooth, thick syrup. - Store and Use:
Pour the syrup into a clean, airtight jar and refrigerate for up to 2 months.
Usage Guidelines:
- Ages 1–5: ½ to 1 tsp every 2 hours
- Ages 5–12: 1 to 2 tsp every 2 hours
- Ages 12+ and Adults: 1 to 2 tbsp every 4 hours
