Honey Citrus Syrup Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 cup raw honey (local honey if possible)
- 1 medium lemon (thinly sliced, seeds removed)
- 1 medium orange (thinly sliced, seeds removed)
- 1 small piece of fresh ginger (about 1 inch, thinly sliced) – optional
- 1 sterilized glass jar with a lid (for storage)
Instructions:
- Prepare Ingredients: Wash the lemon, orange, and ginger thoroughly. Thinly slice the lemon, orange, and ginger (if using).
- Layer the Ingredients: In the sterilized jar, layer the lemon, orange, and ginger slices. Pour a small amount of honey over each layer until the jar is filled.
- Combine: Press the layers gently to release some of the citrus juice into the honey. Add more honey as needed to cover the ingredients completely.
- Seal and Store: Seal the jar with the lid and let the syrup sit in the refrigerator for at least 24 hours before using. The flavors will meld, creating a citrus-infused honey syrup.

- As a Tea: Add 1-2 tablespoons of the syrup to a cup of warm water or tea. Stir well and sip slowly.
- As a Syrup: Take 1 teaspoon directly as needed to soothe a sore throat or relieve cough.
